DESCRIPTION
This appendix provides an overview of the taxonomy, ecology, distribution and abundance, and conservation trends and considerations for each of 21 BLM-selected species (listed below). Suggested management practices, and when appropriate a summary of existing conservation and recovery efforts are also included in each profile. ANIMALS: Bluehead sucker (Catostomus discobolus), Boreal Toad (Bufo boreas boreas), Canyon treefrog (Hyla arenicolor), Desert spiny lizard (Sceloporus magister), Flammulated owl (Otus flammeolus), Flannelmouth sucker (Catostomas latipinnis), Gunnison sage-grouse (Centrocercus minimus), Longnose leopard lizard (Gambelia wislizenii), Mexican spotted owl (Strix occidentalis lucida), Olive sided flycatcher (Contopus cooperi), Red spotted toad (Bufo punctatus), Southwestern willow flycatcher (Empidonax traillii extimus), Spotted bat (Euderma maculates), Townsend’s big eared bat (Corynorhinus townsendii pallescens), Woodhouse’s toad (Bufo woodhousii) PLANTS: Cushion bladderpod (Physaria pulvinata), Eastwood monkeyflower (Mimulus eastwoodiae), Gypsum valley cateye (Cryptantha gypsophila), Kachina daisy (Erigeron kachinensis), Parish’s alkali grass (Puccinellia parishii), Short-stem beardtongue (Penstemon breviculus). BLM and other agencies can use these descriptions – particularly quantitative data and recommended management practices within them – to inform potential lease stipulations or use restrictions in land use plans, as well as vegetation and fire management plans and activities.
