This dataset contains current ecological systems, based upon official NatureServe Ecological System classification v 1.03, for all portions of the ecoregions that intersect Oregon with an official ecological system classification.

Several data sources were used in developing this layer (see Lineage>Sources under the Spatial tab). For each component dataset, ecological system names, Element Global IDs (ELGLBID) and NatureServe elcodes were added. The original class of each pixel from the native datsets has been retained as well to allow future review and/or update. If a particular pixel did not fall into any ecological system (e.g., urban) the value of that pixel was taken from the NLCD 2001 or BTM Canada datsets. Each dataset was re-classified to use the ELGLBID or NLCD class as the primary raster value. The resulting datasets were then merged based on priority (in order of decreasing pre-dominance): Northwest ReGAP Zones 8 and 9; LANDFIRE Existing Vegetation Type; Ecological Systems, Vancouver Island BC.
