Summer Camp

On the Zumwalt Prairie Preserve, the visitor facilities house tour groups and researchers throughout the year. There are three houses (the doctor’s cabin, the schoolhouse, and the farmhouse) on the uplands at “Summer Camp” and one house that is in the canyons called “Winter Camp”. These facilities also accommodate multiple volunteer work parties. Oregon State University and the University of Idaho host student research groups that participate in many of the ongoing studies focusing on the unique ecosystems and biodiversity of the region. We host natural history tours in partnership with Wallowa Resources.

Learn more about Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) and the research both universities participate in.
