Session iii: statewide spatial datasets
This presentation "Geospatial Solutions with LIDAR" will provide the inexperienced or novice potential user of LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) with the basic concepts of LIDAR, its uses and value-added products that are available. Attendee's will learn how the "state of the art" technologies of Airborne Global Positioning Systems (ABGPS), Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) are used in the collection of LIDAR from an airborne platform as well as the software, procedures and expected horizontal and vertical accuracies that can be achieved using this product. The technology of LIDAR has made once cost prohibitive projects nationwide, a very realistic possibility. This talk will include a specific project area in Southeast Alaska, Berner's River, which is of particular interest to those that are involved with the study and migration of Anadromous Fishes in Alaska.
