Session v: statistical approaches and field sampling design
In order to list a water body in the AWC, explicit field information on the presence of anadromous fish is required. Spatially explicit models incorporating habitat information can predict the likelihood of presence, but that needs to be verified by field visits. Some rational method for prioritizing and scheduling visits to sites that are likely to be used by anadromous fish is needed. In this presentation, I suggest a dynamic scheme to schedule field visits that uses spatially balanced probability sampling in conjunction with spatially explicit habitat models in conjunction with other ancillary information. Information gather by one year’s field visits is used to update model predictions and schedule for subsequent years.
