DESCRIPTION
Report on the 11th year of active management of Upper Chiquita Canyon Conservation Easement by the Transportation Corridor Agencies. Includes detailed information on regeneration of cactus in this area, which burned most recently in 2002. Cactus regeneration has averaged 16% per year from 2002 through 2007. At this rate, it is predicted that it will take until 2019 for cactus patches to recover to preburn levels. As of 2006, Cactus Wrens had yet to return to the 2002 burn area in any significant numbers. The report notes that Cactus Wren numbers in unburned areas have also declined, for unknown reasons.
