DESCRIPTION
Full Title: Bird Monitoring Symposia and Workshop: Strategies for Monitoring Birds in the Caribbean—How to Design and Carry out a Monitoring Program. By Steve Latta. JCO 18, 2005. This paper reports on a Bird Monitoring Symposia and Workshop held at the SCSCB Meeting in Guadeloupe in 2005. Following oral presentations, break-out groups discussed monitoring needs in the region, how a monitoring program could meet those needs and allow more inter-island cooperation and the resources and training needed. Participants agreed to form a monitoring WG chaired by Steve Latta and Jon McCracken. The group agreed to proceed with drafting a vision statement, defining the role of the Monitoring WG, with an emphasis on training SCSCB members in monitoring techniques and encouraging inter-island cooperation in monitoring shared species and habitats.
