DESCRIPTION
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Division of Migratory Bird Management has just released the publication, "Birds of Conservation Concern 2008." The goal of this report is to accurately identify the migratory and non-migratory bird species (beyond those already designated as federally threatened or endangered) that represent our highest conservation priorities. The publication is geographically organized by Bird Conservation Region (BCR) and by USFWS Region – the islands of the Caribbean are included in the report (see Tables 43 and 48). Note also that some of the species listed in other regions migrate through or winter in the Caribbean. This publication should help focus much of our bird conservation work in the islands, including research, monitoring, management, site conservation and education.
