DESCRIPTION
This talk provides detailed information on point count survey methodology and distance sampling for landbirds. Examples of how point count monitoring data are used in conservation planning and management are presented. Why estimating distance is important is explained (detection probability). Protocols for Variable Circular Plots (VCP) and fixed radius point counts and the training process to become proficient in distance sampling is described.
