We also provide a link to the ConPro datapack for this project (currently only available to TNC staff). View the list of Exemplary CAPs.
CAP Workbook Tutorial (September 2007)
This animated, narrated online tutorial is probably the best resource for acquiring a comprehensive understanding of how to use the CAP Excel workbook! All CAP workbook users – both beginners and pros – will learn a lot from this tutorial! This tutorial covers all features that apply generally across the workbook (getting started, workbook setup, toolbars and general menu options), and detailed guidance for all of the worksheets. (Alternatively, you can download a zipped copy of the CAP Workbook tutorial. Please note, however, that this is a very large file! You will need a fast internet connection. To download, click here. Be sure to select Save, not Open, and download the 188MB file to your computer. Then double-click the "player.html" file.)
Contact Warren Lockwood, wlockwood@tnc.org, if you have any questions about the workbook or the tutorial. - ConPro
TNC’s Conservation Project Database (TNC intranet login required) is now available! The Conservancy’s Global Conservation Approach Team has been working with Technology Information Services to create a Conservation Project database (ConPro), a searchable web database containing core information from TNC and partners’ conservation projects around the world. Its primary purpose is to promote discovery of effective conservation solutions through improved cross-project learning. Powerful search utilities allow practitioners to rapidly locate projects addressing similar issues such as types of biodiversity, threats, or the strategies being implemented. The content reflects the application of TNC and partner organizations’ Conservation Action Planning (CAP) process and comes from the CAP Excel Workbook Tool, the Conservation Project Inventory (CPI) database, or direct online entry into ConPro. Click here to download a flash movie demo of ConPro. - Motagua Valley, Guatemala CAP article
Download a recent paper summarizing the Motagua Valley CAP in Guatemala. Check out the great maps and photos! - Herndon Workshop Products
In May 2001, an impressive gathering of 70 experts gathered in Herndon, Virginia to identify key ecological attributes, indicators, and "minimum integrity thresholds" that reflect acceptable ranges of variation for a number of ecological systems in Latin America. We finally tracked down the results and made them available online. Download the complete draft report or a specific chapter.
