My method is to put the group's ideas down in a program called Mindjet Mindmanager (http://www.mindjet.com) in a format consistent with what we do in an Efroymson (Target, KEA, Indicator, Direct Threat, Objective, Workplan). I then throw it in the workbook to get it ranked. Then I can color code the boxes in Mindjet and see a conceptual model for the entire project area all on one page. This is a "war room" document in that it is for marking up and taking action. It may be a lot to look at for many folks, but that's okay. The advantage to Mindjet is that you can link any office document or hotlink the boxes to anything you want - making it easy to share information with folks who are scattered across a wide geographic area. $Little Miami River in Southwest OhioAndy DickersonLittle Miami River Watershed Bering Sea Steve MacLeansmaclean@tnc.orgEastern Shore of VirginiaGwynn CrichtonWell articulated big picture vision for conservation success; needs a revision but overall, this plan was very successful in helping the Virginia Coast Reserve move in new innovative, bold and strategic directions. gcrichton@tnc.org Ellen Tejanetejan@tnc.org Packsaddle Chris Hisecmhise@TNC.ORGSan Miguel/Dolores River Babeldaob8Protected Areas in Republic of Palau - Babeldaob Stategy Bill Raynorbraynor@tnc.orgCondor BioreserveSilvia Benitezsbenitez@tnc.org.ecTerri Schulz Strong coalition of partners developed the CAP and are using itas the basis for developing a watershed plan; Used subwatersheds asfocaltargets and consistent KEAs across theplanning area Terri Schulz Our first attempt to integrateecoregional goals with CAP planning - area spans 2 ecoregions so this was challenging; Also first COFO plan with new guidelines and has all plan components including situation diagram and "brochure" summary Utilized latest information from Natural Heritage Program on integrity specifications for ecological systems in KEAs; also had good partner (especially ranchers) in strategy developmentExample of how to integrate large area conservation, showing different types of focal targets from single species, fish communities to species groups;KEAs show example ofmultiple populations of a focal target; Terri Schulz Upper Yampa San MiguelRoaring Fork Chico Basin Chico BasinColorado River - Roaring ForkYampa River - UpperChagres National Park, PanamaIndra CandanedoDeveloped with socio-economic assessment & official guidelines Main input for a zoning proposal Well developed measures plan Used as a tool for multiple purposes, including debt-swap proposal6Grenada: Sandy Island/Oyster Bed Marine Protected Area James ByrnecTerminology adapted to a broader audience understanding Decisions made on ecological and socio-economic considerations Importance of stakeholders participation Key Ecological Attributes (KEA) selected as indicators for viability, threat status, and management effectiveness.
