Has the Conservation Action Planning process been used in relation to planning for Systems of Protected Areas, if not, could it be? Specifically, I am interested in how the CAP process can be used to further the goals of the CBD's Program of Work on Protected Areas.

Hi. At the coaches rally(s) there have been numerous examples of using CAP as a highly leveraged tool for increasing "effective conservation" at protected areas. Our colleagues in Guatemala helped design a CAP for Parque Nacional Tikal, for example. There have been CAPs done for Marine Protected Areas in the Caribbean and Pacific. I believe the Global Protected Areas Strategy group is working on studying this further and distributing lessons learned so email me if you want and I can try to put you in touch with the right folks!
