The following projects have graciously agreed to let us post their current Miradi project files to serve as examples for the ever-expanding community of Miradi users. More project files will be added soon!

San Juan Marine Stewardship Area Plan
In 2004 Washington State’s San Juan County Council designated the marine waters and shorelines of the county (which includes 176+ islands) as a “Marine Stewardship Area” to protect the marine resources of the islands while allowing sustainable use of marine resources to continue forever. The San Juan County Marine Resources Committee, a citizen’s committee that advises the county council on marine issues, used the Conservancy’s Conservation Action Planning methodology to develop a strategic plan for the area. Highlights of the Miradi file for the plan include the inclusion of socio-cultural or human well-being targets and detailed viability analyses and conceptual models.

Protected Area Strategic Plan – Axios Delta in Greece
The Axios Authority in Greece applied the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation and Miradi in developing a Strategic Plan for the Axios Delta protected area.  The planning process was supported by Foundations of Success and Eurosite. The Miradi file includes a comprehensive conceptual model (use Tag check boxes to focus on individual threats) and nine Results Chains.  See links below for the Miradi file, the Strategic Plan, and a link to the Protected Area website.

Global Freshwater Initiative
The Nature Conservancy's Global Freshwater Initiative uses Miradi to develop a strategic work plan and report on their work. The team developed a results chain for each major strategy area, and is actively using the work planning functions to track and report on their progress. There is a separate Miradi project file for each major strategy area within the freshwater initiative. These files are great examples of results chains for policy strategies implemented at multiple sites.

San Luis Obispo Science and Ecosystem Alliance (SLOSEA)
SLOSEA is an integrated group of scientists, resource managers and stakeholders focused on restoring the marine resources of the Morro Bay Estuary and the nearshore coast and watersheds from Cape San Martin to Point Conception. They used Miradi to develop a strategic plan to "achieve management and conservation goals through the application of ecosystem-based management on the central coast of California."

Sycan Marsh Preserve, Oregon
Sycan Marsh is a preserve owned by The Nature Conservancy in southern Oregon that is a vital nesting spot and migratory pathway for thousands of waterfowl and other bird species. Conservancy staff are using Miradi to manage implementation of the conservation action plan (CAP) for the preserve. This is a great example of a site-based CAP with detailed viability and threat assessments. We have inserted comments in the diagrams in bright pink textboxes to highlight some areas for improvement.

How to view a project file

To view a project, you must have Miradi installed on your computer. Download the project file (which is in .mpz format) to your hard drive. Open Miradi, and select Import... At the next screen, click on Miradi Project (.mpz) and navigate to the downloaded file. Click Import. When prompted, assign a file name and click OK. The imported project will now appear in your list of projects.
