The Conservation by Design Gateway is a ConserveOnline Workspace for the global conservation community to find and share guidance, tools and resources supporting Conservation by Design or the process of setting goals, developing strategies, implementation and measuring results for biodiversity conservation.

Applied Conservation Science and Emerging Strategies This section of the Gateway provides access to the concepts, tools and strategies being used by practitioners to tackle some of the world's most important and vexing conservation issues. As this section's content grows, it will address threats as varied as climate change, altered fire regimes, forest health, non-native species invasions, dams and altered hydrology, ocean over-fishing and opportunities such as payment for ecosystem services and carbon offsets.
This section focuses on practical guidance, tried and tested tools, case-studies and real-world examples, and useful data supporting the mitigation of pressing threats and implementation of promising emerging strategies. For example, current and future topics may address questions such as: How may my region be impacted by climate change and how can we use predictive models to inform action? What are current best practices in designing resilience into marine protected areas? What tools, data and guidance are available to predict and account for future severe wildfires? What are the best examples of using payment for ecosystem services to support conservation?
This section will continue to expand to provide support for an increasing number of applied conservation science topics and emerging strategies. If you would like to contribute, or have ideas for additional topics or resources, email conservationgateway@tnc.org. | | Special Topics
