Lessons learned: Developing strategies in the face of climate change

Conservation Coaches Network Rally, November 2010
Facilitators: John Morrison and Anne Wallach Thomas
This session was held at the CAP Rally to look at lessons learned to better understand how the CAP Climate Change Guidelines have been used in practice since The Nature Conservancy sponsored the Climate Clinic (Sept. 2009). Participants contributed feedback and experience which will be used as we consider modifications to improve the guidelines.

This document shows the different climate adaptation planning steps taken by the four presenters, and how their steps line up with the guidelines developed at the Clinic. It helps us understand how these guidelines are being used in the field.

Materials from the Presenters:

Kirk Klausmeyer, Project: Mt. Hamilton

TNC California held a Climate Adaptive Strategies Workshop for the Mt. Hamilton Range in April 2010. This site includes materials and information used in that workshop - see Lessons Learned docs at bottom of page: Workshop Homepage

Susan Antenen, Project: Southern Sierra Partnership

In early 2009 Audubon California, the Sequoia Riverlands Trust, the Sierra Business Council, and The Nature Conservancy formed the Southern Sierra Partnership (SSP) and launched a collaborative conservation assessment with representatives from ten agencies and organizations for the southern Sierra Nevada and Tehachapi Mountains.
