freshwaterBaseline data collection at Ellsworth Creek was completed during the summer of 2008. The majority of reports are now complete. Any additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
Currently, the summary reports that are available include:
BASELINE DATA CORE SUMMARIES:
Vegetation- Summary of overstory and understory forest vegetation data collected in Ellsworth Creek experimental basins and watershed (LiDAR only) from 2006-2007. Includes information on overstory structure, snag densiites, understory species composition and abundance, and large woody debris. Historic Tree Densities (>60 cm diameter)- Summary of historical tree densities in the Ellsworth Creek watershed. Calculated from stump data collected during forest vegetation surveys within the Ellsworth Creek experimental basins 2006-2007. Stream Physical Habitat- Summary of physical habitat data from fish-bearing and non-fish-bearing perennial streams within the Ellsworth Creek watershed. Majority of data from 2006. Annual re-surveys of a subset of streams from 2007-2010. Overlays with macroinvertebrate data. Forest Birds- Summary of forest bird point count data collected within the Ellsworth Creek experimental basins during the late spring/early summer of 2006 and 2007. Includes presence/absence, relative abundance, and density estimates. Stream-associated Headwater Amphibians- Summary of stream-associated headwater amphibian data collected in zero and first order headwater streams within the Ellsworth Creek experimental basins during 2006 and 2007. Includes presence/absence, relative abundance, and environmental correlations. Emphasis on Columbia torrent salamanders and Giant salamanders.
OTHER BASELINE DATA:
- A snorkel/electrofishing survey conducted throughout Ellsworth Creek by Wild Fish Conservancy in 2007. [snorkel]
- Stream macroinvertebrates collected during the summers of 2006 and 2007. [macroinvert_06] [macroinvert_07]
- Anexploratory multivariate analysisof Ellsworth Creek stream macroinvertebrates.
- An analysis of LiDAR data to quantify forest structural complexity in the Ellsworth Creek watershed. [LiDAR]
