ESA species and groundwater

DESCRIPTION

We evaluated the more than 1700 species on the US Endangered Species List, for their dependence on groundwater. We found that 291 species are groundwater dependent, which constitutes 17% of all listed species. When considering invertebrates only, 26% of listed species are groundwater-dependent.
