Northwest Regional Assessment
One of the initial barriers to protecting GDEs is a lack of understanding of their location, ecological characteristics, and relationship to local and regional groundwater flow systems. To begin to fill this gap, we completed a state-wide assessment of Oregon groundwater-dependent ecosystems using available data. Final products include a report, an atlas (see Maps tab), and detailed methods and data tables. The atlas includes numerous maps of the distributions of groundwater-dependent ecosystems and threats to their groundwater quality and quantity. We summarized our results in an article in the journal Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment. The same analysis was also done for Washington and northern California.
