Join us November 7th and 8th, 2012 for the fifth annual Mat-Su Salmon Science and Conservation Symposium!
This year's theme will be linking science and policy for a future with abundant wild salmon in the Mat-Su. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Bob Lackey, from Oregon State University, where he is both a professor of fisheries and political sciences. In his book Salmon 2100: The Future of Wild Pacific Salmon, Dr. Lackey creates an anthology of policy prescriptions to keep salmon in the Pacific Northwest into the next 100 years. Come talk with Dr. Lackey, and discuss how we can apply lessons learned elsewhere, and keep abundant wild salmon in the Mat-Su through 2100.
This year's Symposium will be held at the Central Mat-Su Public Safety Building 101 W. Swanson Avenue, Wasilla, Alaska.
Presentation and poster abstract submissions due by September 24th.
General registration due by October 14th.

Annual symposium goals are to provide a forum to share information on restoration and research projects related to Mat-Su watersheds and salmon habitat conservation and to promote an exchange of ideas about salmon science and conservation in the Mat-Su Basin. Presentations span a wide range of topics -- fish passage restoration projects on Mat-Su streams and assessment of their benefits to salmon; studies about geology, erosion, and salmon distribution on the Matanuska River; wetlands mapping and management; Green Infrastructure planning; salmon distribution throughout the Mat-Su Basin; conservation of public lands; and more.
