Current Projects


      KEY SUCCESSES

PRELIMINARY OUTPUTS FROM FOREST STATE AND
TRANSITION MODELS and modeled landscape transitions based
on different scenarios for the Applegate are available through the
U.S. Geological Survey.

DRAFT SOCIAL ASSESSMENT with focal targets, indicators,
constraints, objectives and strategies was completed.


2008–2009 PLANNED ACTIONS

· Use current ecological and social transition models to update
the Applegate Community Wildfire Protection Plan and to
inform out-year fuels and restoration projects on federal land.
· Work with the Rogue Siskiyou National Forest and
community collaborators to design restoration priorities
for the 10,000-acre project in the Butcher Knife Slate,
Cheney Slate and Humbug-Thompson sites.
· Implement demonstration project in 2009 using four
treatments including a control to demonstrate outcomes
on key ecological measures.
· Coordinate with Jackson and Josephine County Fire Plans.
