Message from Stewardship Program

Arkansas is blessed with approximately 18.4 million acres of timberland of which over 58 percent is in private non-industrial ownership. The Forest Stewardship Program encourages and recognizes private non-industrial landowners who are striving to manage their forestlands according to a multiple-use concept. Forest Stewardship is the wise use and management of resources that maintains and enhances the value of the forests for present and future generations. Through the Forest Stewardship Program, a landowner has access to resource professionals to assist them in obtaining a written forest management plan at no cost.

If you are a private landowner and own a minimum of 20 acres with at least 10 acres of it in forests, you are eligible for Arkansas' Forest Stewardship Program. You can find an application on the Arkansas Forestry Commission web site.
