Message from Stewardship Program

The Kansas Forest service is dedicated to providing a multiple resource management approach for the private forest lands of the state. The Forest Stewardship Program provides professional forestry expertise through eight District Foresters located throughout the state and a state coordinator. These services include assisting landowners in the preparation of Forest Stewardship Management plans. Properly managed forests provide timber, wildlife habitat, watershed protection, recreational opportunities and other benefits. Landowners who participate in the preparation of their Forest Stewardship plans are more likely to actively implement the recommendations in their plans increasing the likelihood that their forests will remain productive and healthy, and that the social, economic and environmental benefits of these lands will be realized.
