Message from Stewardship Program:

The Forest Stewardship program provides a means for state, federal, and private agencies to better coordinate their services to the private non industrial forest landowner with a common goal of long-term stewardship of forestlands in Louisiana.

State Forestland Statistics:

  • Total forested acres= 13.9 million
  • Privately owned=9.2 million
  • Industry=1.3 million
  • Government=3.4 million

Stewardship in Louisiana:

  • Number of stewardship plans=977
  • Acres covered by stewardship plans= 127,049 acres
  • Number of Certified Stewardship Forests= 224
  • Certified Forest Stewardship Acres= 48,123
