The Private Forests Program provides technical and financial assistance and coordinates information and services available to Oregon's non-industrial private forest landowners who collectively own about 4.5 million acres, or 42% of the privately-owned forestlands in Oregon.
The harvest on these lands has more than doubled in recent years. Non-industrial forest landowners make a significant contribution to Oregon's economy. This assistance includes advice and technical expertise to help landowners manage their timber and other forest resources, helping landowners develop forest stewardship plans and financially assisting landowners by administering a forest property tax program, state income tax credit, and several cost-share programs that provide financial incentives for landowners. Contact your local stewardship forester or Steve Vaught at 503/945-7393 for more information.
