The goal of the Southwest Climate Change Initiative (SWCCI) is to build capacity of conservation practitioners in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah to assess the regional and local impacts of global climate change and to develop and implement strategies to reduce adverse effects on biodiversity and ecosystem services. Since its inception in 2009, SWCCI has held training sessions for more than 200 people and 40 organizations, and has produced climate adaptation strategies for four pilot landscapes: the Bear River Basin (Utah), Four Forest Restoration Initiative area (Arizona), Gunnison Basin (Colorado), and Jemez Mountains (New Mexico).
SWCCI partners include The Nature Conservancy, Wildlife Conservation Society, Climate Assessment for the Southwest, Western Water Assessment, and the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
This workspace is UNDER CONSTRUCTION but will soon be used to make available workshop reports, regional assessments, fact sheets, and summary articles.
