DESCRIPTION
Approximately 70% of water withdrawals worldwide are for agriculture. Growing food is a thirsty business and the impact doesn't stop there. The pesticides and fertilizers used in growing food run into lakes, rivers and streams. Participants in this session will walk away with a better understand of how to mitigate these threats and ways to keep rivers in agricultural areas flowing. Speakers include Hernando Cabral Perdomo (TNC) - Cuatro Cienegas (Mexico), Jim Herkert (TNC) - Illinois (IL, USA), Mary Davis (TNC) - Georgia (GA, USA), and Sarah Lynch (WWF).
