The Zumwalt Prairie is one of the last remaining large areas of Pacific Northwest Bunchgrass Prairie. Because most of it has never been extensively farmed or intensively grazed, the Zumwalt is a refuge for many unique plants, animals, and other organisms and consequently is of high conservation importance.
